EXPERIWARE BETA LICENCE
Version 1.0, 2 August 2026
This is the agreement under which Experiware Kft. ("we", "us") lets you use the
Experiware beta software ("the Software"). It is deliberately short. Please read
it.
By installing or using the Software, you accept these terms. If you do not
accept them, do not use the Software.
1. WHAT YOU MAY DO
You may install and use the Software free of charge for NON-COMMERCIAL
purposes: academic research, teaching, study, personal projects, and evaluating
whether the Software is useful to you.
Academic research and teaching count as non-commercial here, including where
that work is externally funded. You may install it on as many of your own
machines as you like.
2. WHAT NEEDS AN AGREEMENT WITH US
Using the Software in the course of a business, or to design something you or
your employer intend to make, sell, or have made commercially, needs a separate
commercial licence. We are happy to arrange one: write to
[email protected].
We would rather you asked than assumed. If you are unsure which side of the
line you are on, ask.
3. WHAT YOU MAY NOT DO
Please do not:
- redistribute, host, resell, or bundle the Software. Send people to
experiware.com instead, so they get the current version;
- remove or alter any notice in the Software or in this folder;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software, except to the
extent applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction.
We retain all rights in the Software. This licence lets you use it; it does not
sell or give it to you.
4. YOUR DESIGNS ARE YOURS
Everything you create with the Software - your design files, exported masks,
tool geometry, and anything else it produces - belongs to you. We claim no
rights in it, place no conditions on what you do with it, and ask nothing in
return.
The Software runs entirely on your machine. Your designs are never uploaded to
us, and we never see them.
5. THIS IS BETA SOFTWARE
The Software is unfinished. It will contain defects, it may behave incorrectly,
and it may lose your work. Keep backups of anything you care about.
IN PARTICULAR: the Software produces geometry intended for fabrication.
Manufacturing is expensive and physical. Check its output yourself before you
commit anything to a mask house, a foundry, or a tool shop. Do not treat this
beta as a substitute for your own review.
We may change, suspend, or withdraw the beta at any time, and a future version
may be offered on different terms - including paid ones. This licence covers
this beta version only.
6. NO WARRANTY
The Software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or
implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability,
fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not promise that the Software will work, that it will keep working, that
it will be free of defects, or that we will support it or answer your mail
(though we will try).
7. LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or
damage arising out of your use of the Software - including lost work, lost
data, lost profits, wasted fabrication runs, or any indirect or consequential
loss.
Nothing in sections 6 or 7 excludes or limits any liability that cannot be
excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for death or
personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
8. UPDATE CHECKS
At startup the Software asks experiware.com whether a newer version exists. The
request sends the version you are running and your operating system, and
nothing else. It installs nothing by itself.
You can turn it off in Settings, under "Updates". See README.txt and
experiware.com/privacy.
9. FEEDBACK
If you send us feedback, bug reports, or suggestions, we may use them freely to
improve the Software, with no obligation and no confidentiality, unless we have
separately agreed otherwise in writing. You keep any rights you already had in
what you sent.
10. ENDING THIS LICENCE
This licence lasts until it ends. You may end it at any time by deleting the
Software. It ends automatically if you break its terms. When it ends, stop
using the Software and delete your copies. Sections 4, 6, 7, and 11 survive.
11. GOVERNING LAW
This licence is governed by the law of Hungary, and the courts of Budapest have
jurisdiction over any dispute arising from it.
If you use the Software as a consumer rather than in the course of a business,
this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law
of the country where you live.
12. THE OPEN-SOURCE COMPONENTS
The Software includes open-source components under their own licences, which
are separate from this one and are not affected by it. They are listed with
their licence texts in THIRD-PARTY.txt in this folder.
